From the Royal Cornwall Gazette, Friday 9th May 1862, page 4.
It is announced that the opening of Kenwyn Church, after its restoration, is to take place next Thursday. The restorations are very extensive, nearly amounting in effect to re-building, and the sacred edifice is now worthy its position as the mother-church of the most considerable parish in the county. This it may well claim to be, for it includes two-fifths of the population of Truro, and with its affiliated parish of Kea, extends over 25 square miles, containing 14,658 inhabitants, with two parish churches, three district churches, a chapel of ease, and two mission chapels, with free day-schools attached to every one. When it is stated that all these, except the two parish churches, have been built within the last few years, that is to say, six churches and chapels, and eight or ten schools, the claim for help in the present work, and help is necessary to complete it, will be readily and liberally acknowledged. We shall give a full account next week.
