From Cornwall Record Office ref. P97/2/29.
Dear Mr. Coode,
Many thanks for your letter. I am so glad that Miss Daubuz and you yourself like the design, which I am convinced will be most effective when in the Church. I am also glad that Mr. Sowell is pleased with it.
With regard to the Faculty. Canon Mills will I am sure put you on the right lines with regard to the Faculty. The ordinary method of obtaining same is comparatively simple.
First. A Vestry Meeting has to be called and the design approved.
Second. The design has to be placed inside the Church near the main entrance and exposed to view during for at least 10 days, including two Sundays, together with a notice that a Faculty is to be applied for.
Third. A formal application by the Vicar and Churchwardens has to be made through the Diocesan Registrar to the Chancellor of the Diocese accompanied with the design and a copy of the resolution passed by the Vestry, and a tracing of the design on linen and a description of the window deposited with the Registrar.
The method of procedure varies slightly in different Diocese, but if no objections are raised to the window, there is no reason why the whole matter should not be got through easily within three weeks. It is of course essential that I should have the coloured design back again, as it is an original design and no copies have yet been made of same, and neither the full size cartoons or the work in painting of the glass can be put in hand until it is returned, and no tracing on linen can be made until I have it back in the office.
With regard to the Coats of Arms. I propose sending up to the College of Arms to ask as to the correct colouring of the Daubuz and Coode Arms etc., and will then let you know.
In the meantime, after Canon Mills has seen the design it would save time if you could return it to me, and I would at once get a tracing made for Faculty purposes.
With kindest regards to Miss Daubuz and yourself,
I am yours sincerely,
Geo: H. Fellowes Prynne
